Melodot welcomes musicians of all skill levels to showcase their talent in a variety of instrumental categories. Participants can compete in solo performances or ensembles, demonstrating their musicality, technique, and artistic expression.

Piano Competition

Solo piano performances highlighting technical mastery and expression.

Strings Competition

Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass performances.

2025 Melodot Music Competition

Registration begins at 12:00AM PST on August 25, 2025 and ends at 12:00AM PST on October 15, 2025.

Winners will be announced on Ooctober 20, 2025 by email and on our website.

The Winners Concert will be held on November 8, 2025 at Town Hall Seattle.

Eligibility

The Melodot Music Competition provides young musicians with a platform to showcase their talents and gain valuable performance experience. It aims to foster a love for music, encourage continuous improvement, and build long-term confidence in young artists.

The competition is open to piano and string players of all nationalities and ages.

Repertoire Requirements

Participants may choose original works from any classical music period (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Contemporary).
Piano and string solo pieces must be performed from memory.
Arrangements, simplifications, or modernized versions are not accepted.

Video Submission Guidelines

Provide Youtube (or other video sharing sites) link to the video recordings of performance.
Videos must be single-camera, unedited, continuous performances clearly showing the performer’s entire body
No speaking or self-introduction is allowed in the video.
Videos must be recorded within the specified submission period; late submissions will be disqualified.

Judging Criteria

Judging will be based on technical proficiency, musical expression, repertoire difficulty, and overall artistry. A comment sheet will also be provided to each participant.

Judging Criteria: 

From 95 to 100: First Absolute Prize

From 90 to 94: 1st prize

From 80 to 89: 2nd prize

From 70 to 79: 3rd prize

Awards

Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to outstanding participants.
Winners will have the opportunity to perform at a future event at Town Hall Seattle.
Special awards will be given for exceptional artistic performances.

Registration

Registration Period: 12:00AM PST August 25, 2025 to 12:00AM PST October 15, 2025.
Registration Method: Complete the online registration form and pay the fee accordingly.
Registration fees are non-refundable once confirmed.

Winners Concert

Winners must reply to confirm their participation in the Town Hall Seattle event by 12:00AM PST on October 30, 2025 after receiving the award confirmation email.
Winners should perform the same piece at the Winners Concert as submitted for the competition.
For winners who are unable to attend the Winners Concert, Melodot will mail their medals and certificates.

Important Notes

Participants must ensure high-quality video recordings to avoid evaluation issues.
All submissions must be complete versions of original works; arrangements or abridged versions are prohibited.
Participant’s age should be determined based on the date of submission of the registration form.
Participants must adhere to all competition rules; violations will result in disqualification.
